I've recently become a SAHM/W after 23 years of being a teacher. The combination of a moderate case of fibromyalgia/arthritis aggravated by a very serious car accident this past October and the discovery that I have a type of narcolepsy that cannot, apparently, be controlled by medication qualified me for early disability retirement from Kentucky Teacher's Retirement. Everyone thinks I'm the luckiest lady in the world. Yeah right-I can't run to the post office or go get a loaf of bread because I can no longer drive! My DH is a city carrier for the postal service and our adult daughter lives in Lexington. She has multiple health problems and her physical disabilities require her to use a power wheelchair. We are very proud that she graduated from UK two years ago and is working part time, living with our granddog, a toy poodle named Kallie.

As I begin to feel better, it's hard adjusting to depending asking people for transportation, as we do not have public transportation in our area. This has happened to a very independent soul who took off to Cancun on Spring Break alone because she couldn't find anyone to go with her and "I always go somewhere on Spring Break"!!!!
