It just doesn't make sense to me to put the jelly on first. The peanut butter is like the adhesive to hold the jelly on the sandwich.

I agree.  Why would you put the jelly on first?  I mean if you put the PB on first you can use the same knife for both PB & J.

LOL! I never really thought about it, but it is peanut butter first for me. 

Peanut butter first.  Less of a chance of getting peanut butter in the jelly jar then there is of getting jelly in the peanut butter jar.  But I put the jelly on the other piece of bread.  I don't put it on top of the peanut butter.

I'm with you brinasmom - I put peanut butter on one slice of bread first and then the jam on the other slice of bread. But I wipe the knife on the "jam slice" of bread to remove the remnants of peanut butter before I stick the knife into the jam jar.

Always pb first...just like the others, I can clean off the knife on the bread before I stick it in the jelly jar. My pet peeve is getting pb in the jelly jar.

I never thought a thing about this, but it would never occur to me to put the jelly first.  It's PB & J, so PB goes first.  ;)

you HAVE to put the peanut butter one first, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to spread the paenut butter OVER the jelly?!?!?! take it from me, i'm an expert! ;)

I have no idea......but PB and J sounds soooo good right now =)
