Last night I was heating up some rice in foil in the oven and when I opened it up I got a nasty burn and blister on my thumb from the steam. It sent me running to one of my natural remedies books which advised to not put ice on it or soak it in ice water but just soak it in very cold water. I ended up soaking my thumb in water with a small ice cube in it for about 3 hours (ugh, I know) but today there is no blister and no sign of any burn. What do you do when you get a minor burn? Melaleuca oil works like a charm! 7 times more soothing than aloe.

I would od aloe vera from the plant first until the pain subsides, then put on Arnica Oil. This helps with skin trauma and helps with any purple color that comes with burns.

If it isn't a 3rd degree burn, Melaleuca oil and MelaGel (their version of Neosporin with T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil) will work wonders.
However, right after the burn happens I know it can be hot and painful!! As a caterer and a 10 year stint in the restaurant industry, the cooks always told me to rub a cut tomato on a burn. It is something about the tomato juice that calms the burn. I have always used it since and it just feels "refreshing" on a burn...LOL...if that's possible!

I use Rescue Remedy cream or calendula or aloe if that's not available. Just used straight essential oil Lavender on hands burned while scrubbing with bleach with great results (sure gloves will be remembered next time).
I didn't hear about it until the young lady had been suffering with the burning on her palms for over 30 minutes. Did ice initially, buying time to find something. Cream quickly soaked in & burning was back. That can be typical; cream or ointments soak in to heal and need to be reapplied often for a while. Thought of the lavender, though, and it only had to be reapplied one time and she was comfortable again; all redness was gone by morning. Purchased Lavender from Cheryl's Herbs in Maplewood on Manchester Rd by STL City limit. Readings have warned of using anything but pure lavender for this purpose. Other preparations can cause burns themselves and would make any burns treated worse.

This may sound odd but I swear it works - toothpaste. I used to live in Thailand where my husband is from and this is one of the random things I have learned from him. They are all about using the stuff you have around the house to fix problems since most places don't have the overabundance of choices of products we have here or the money to buy them all anyway!
Just dab some of whatever toothpaste you use on the burn and reapply as much as you want/need. It soothes it right away and does a good job of healing too. Good luck
