Do you keep up and check what kind of numbers your kids school have? The attendance % the parents involved % and how the staff is doing? This is very important for us to know whether our kids school is good or not. Since working in the a school I am getting more involved and learning more about my dd school. So what do you think about this ?

You know I saw this post last night, but didn’t realize that I wanted to comment until this morning…lol!  When I moved to Queens, I realized how important a school’s grades were. Unfortunately, with Dyl I have no choice. His is the only school where he is guaranteed aftercare. Queens stinks in that area. However, there is a great grade A+ school near my house, which I miss being zoned for by ¼ of a mile!!! A quarter mile, are you kidding me!!! And the school is reputedly one fo the top schools in Queens!!!

As for Donavin, at this rate, I just want my son in a school! Lol! I can’t say I have checked on his school’s grades. But today I will. Thank you for reminding me!!

Yes, today.  I went on the ARIS website and discovered that my son's ethnicity was put down as "black"! Don't know where that came from, first of all he's PR,Greek, and Filipino.  I thought the proper word was African American?  I'm going to call the parents coordinator to have it corrected, only because is something happens, he may not get the help he needs because they'll be looking at an Asian boy?  I don't know....Other than that, I was pleased to find out his school scored a B.

I do check from time to time and I'm happy that the school's 2008-2009 progress report graded an A.

Well my son is in Catholic School, so I'm not concerned about parent involvement and classroom numbers. He's in a class of 24 kids so he gets alot of personal attention. And I do keep in touch with his teacher via notes in his homework notebook. I like the fact that I went to the school, so I already knew the ropes when I registered him. lol
